What to do with Coffee Grounds?

Hey there lovelies! Kamustasa naman? :D Was at the mall earlier with Mama and did a little Independence Day shopping after work. The crowd was unbelievable! I totally forgot that kids won't have classes today, plus it's 3-day SALE (YES, SALE) and 1st screening day of Man of Steel (which I decided to watch next week since I am pretty sure na madami pa ring tao sa weekend). Actually hauled a few things but will talk about it on a separate post.

So yeah.. I came here to talk about coffee grounds. Isn't it relaxing to just lay around, read a book, drink a nice cup of coffee especially now that the rainy season is here?.. Which most of us cannot do since duh, we have to work?! Hahahaha!

Anyway, I was watching a commercial one time featuring a certain brand of coffee and it's benefits. Like we all know that coffee is rich in antioxidants that prevents damage of cells and also some have weight-reducing or shall I say cellulite-reducing properties. Yes, I have definitely heard or read it somewhere. :p So naisip ko, "Ano nga bang pwedeng gawin dito sa pinagtirhan ng kape pagkatapos mag-brew?" Being the Pinay that I am, naisip ko saying naman yun diba teh?

So I tried using it as a scrub! :)

Here's how:

Start with a clean-still-moist face

Here's my coffee container? Isn't Mr. Snowman a cutie? :)

Here's my coffeeeeee!!
Get a dollop, a teaspoonful (depending on you) of this wonderful, awesome-smelling stuff.

Rub it in your face for like 30 seconds to 1 minute. Use circular motions to increase blood flow on your face. I like to leave mine for another minute just to let my skin drink the coffee. Mehehehe :p

And rinse afterwards. Pat dry.

As you can see, my face is a it reddish. This is because of the coffee's exfoliating action. It is not a gentle exfoliator and I do not recommend this for everyday use. Rub gently, NOT VIGOROUSLY.  I use this for 2-3 times a week depending on my mood. I bet you can also use this with a bit of olive oil to make it more moisturizing and less "sandy". 'Coz I be telling you, it's like using beach sand on ya face!

But in my opinion, it is quite good as I can really feel that my skin is clean and tight right after. It's like instant botox! Hahahaha!
DO NOT FORGET TO MOISTURIZE AFTER! :)

And let me know how it goes for you! xx

Garnier Pure Active Multi Action Facial Scrub

Hey there! Sorry I wasn't able to blog for a looooooong time. Got busy with applications, work and some errands. How have you been? :)

Here's a review I've been wanting to do for the longest time now. It's about the new Garnier Pure Active Multi Action Facial Scrub.

I think it was about 3-4 weeks ago when I was with Mama shopping for grocery supplies and we were about to pay for our goodies when I decided to grab this scrub and give it a try. I've contemplated about getting another facial wash from the Garnier line or if i'll just stick to this one. So since I read that it contains Salicylic Acid, I went ahead and purchased it. It's really cheap! 50ml bottle costs I think around 80 PHP.

Everyone knows what Salicylic Acid does. It dries up pimple faster so yes it means less worries for everyone.

I've never been a fan of drugstore/ store-bought brands since really, they don't work on me. I have years of commercialized product use under my belt and believe me, I think I've wasted so much money. But then again, why not give this one a try I told myself since I've been reading good reviews about it.

So I've been using it for quite some time now and well, IT HAD BEEN AWESOME. My pimples dried up really fast like really from overnight to 3days being the most. I am a girl who isn't bothered by pimples 'coz I am used to breaking out like with really Big, Red, Plump, Angry Pimples. But since I used the product, I noticed that I've been breaking out less, thank God. Oh well I still do have that "occasional" breakout when I'm about to get to my "Red Days" but well, I noticed that the pimples are less. Yaaaaay! :D

I really enjoy using this scrub since I am not satisfied with using simple facial wash when I know I've been through smoke and dust among others throughout the day. And plus, it has a yummy smell! It's not the typical "sweet" smell. The scent actually reminds me of citrus and greens for a reason I don't know. Hahaha! And it's refreshing too! :)

I hope you guys find this review useful. Oh, and well, the image is not mine. Thank you though to the owner of the image. And.. this is not a paid review. I really love Garnier so I decided to do this. :D

TAKE CARE! ;)

EXERCISE

So yes, I have an average height of 5'1", and weight of 130 lbs. I am on the borderline of being overweight for my body but well, EATING IS LOVE. I think almost everyone would agree to that.

I was never the "big kid" during my childhood days. It just started when I was in Grade 5 and then, I was always the chubby one. I have to admit, it wasn't easy. It was never an easy thing for me being compared to everyone. Like why do my younger cousins have suitors and I don't? Like why is my sister beautiful and I am not. Plus, teenage problem also decided to greet me and that was ZITS and BREAKOUTS.

Everything changed though when I started losing weight and no, at first I did not do it properly. I lost so much and looked really thin but that was because I starved myself for 2 weeks. I would skip meals and wouldn't eat dinner. I would only eat crackers and drink water.

Now I'm 20 and yes, exercise is just something I started recently.

EXERCISE WAS NOT EASY. It was May last year, I was living with my batch mates in a retreat house in Tagaytay for our in-house review since we will be taking the Nursing Licensure Exam by June. Our review will last from 8AM to 5PM so still, we have quite time to spare before dinner and night-time studies..or should I say going back to bed :p

My friends and I then decided to try jogging and yes, IT WAS HARD. At first I would be jogging for like 3 minutes and then I'll be catching my breath and then walk. And then I'll run again for a minute and walk again. My legs hurt, my breathing uneven. Still, I tell myself "You have to do this." The place has a slope in it and it was in front of a church so well, I guess, inside my head was like "Lord is watching you, kaya mo yan." So there, challenge accepted. I am no athlete or sporty type so I just accepted the fact that it will not be an easy task for me. Still, I ran..and walk..and jog everyday for 30 minutes. The rule was "You can slow down, but no, do not stop." Until after 2 weeks, I noticed that I am not that tired anymore and that I can run for a longer time. I'd play Badminton or watch the Basketball Game with my friends afterwards. It made me feel better. Knowing that I am doing this not for anyone else, but for myself, it made me feel like I was treating my body, extra special.

What I really just want is to wear this low-rise jeans of mine without my tummy bulging. THAT WAS MY ONLY GOAL. And on the last day, HOLY ASDFGHJKL, I DID!

After that, I stopped. i don't know. I was home again and I had this overwhelming feeling of again being lazy. Hahaha! Sorry, tao lang :))

A month ago, I started that walk-jog-run routine again with my Mama. We do it a couple of meters away from our house on what we call "Latian" or Salt Beds. Sorry, I can't attach a picture of it right now but I will, some other time. Sooooo, I wake up at around 6AM and together with my mom, we exercise.

THE CON:

  • I wake up early.
THE PROS:
  • I noticed that I've been feeling a lot happier lately. MUST BE THE ENDORPHINS. <3
  • My bowel movement have been regular. Yes I am one of those who do not do "the deed" regularly but when I started exercise, I did! :D
  • I have read somewhere that even 15-minute walks are good for losing weight if you do it regularly. Yes, you won't see the results immediately but trust me, in the long run, you will. I have been wearing garments of mine that I have not worn in a loooooong time!
  • I don't have to pay for gym sessions..so I save money :p
  • I know in my heart that I'm doing my body a favor.
  • I don't tire easily :D I am doing cardio exercise so I know that if ever the Zombies attack, I am prepared. LOL =))
  • I see the sun rise and it makes me happy and extra energetic for the day. And also, I feel like it's God's way of saying good morning to me :">
  • I have extra bonding time with Mama. <3 We talk about random things when we exercise and it's awesome.
  • PLUS: YOU DO NOT HAVE TO WAKE UP EARLY BECAUSE YOU CAN EXERCISE EVEN ON THE LATE AFTERNOONS AND EVEN AT NIGHT-TIME! :D
Oh, I found some pics, sorry it was random shots of me and my boyfriend, and of my friends! :D

So there it is! Hahaha! Sorry for the long post. So get up! Go out and run! It's good for you!

Always take care, RUI xx

Olay Active Hydrating Beauty Fluid - Original

Hey there! Tonight, I'll be posting about a favorite moisturizer of mine, Olay Active Hydrating Beauty Fluid - Original.

The first one is the box, as you can see and the second one is the bottle of fluid. It contains 6.0 fl. oz (177 mL).

Written on the back of the bottle: Light, Non-Greasy, Dermatologist tested, Won't Clog Pores. Provides your skin with an immediate surge of active moisture to soothe dryness without a greasy feel.Leaves skin softer, smoother and more supple. Diminishes the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

I currently have two bottles of this product, both are my sister's. Hahaha! Well, she's not that into "products" so I tried using it. Both are given by relatives from U.S.A.

Actually, this is the first moisturizer that I've used. Have been using it for about a month or so. I was skeptic the first time that I've used it because my first thought was that this kind of beauty products are only used by women older than me. I'm 20 years of age. But then I gave it a try.

The lid comes off with a twisting motion, so the product has less chances of spilling out in case you decided to bring it when you travel. The smell is quite "musky", if you know what I mean. It's fragrant enough though just not too much. The fluid comes off as white, silky and yes, non-greasy. Yes it is not heavy on skin because it's not the cream or mousse type, which is good because the weather here in the Philippines can be really humid. -_-

First-time I used it, I tried it on my hand. I was afraid to use it directly on my face because it might feel itchy and it might not be compatible for me. I've tried some products and my skin itched like crazy! That's why the other products that I use on my face are all from the Dermatologist. I have sensitive skin.

I use this everyday. In the morning, after my toner and before my sunblock and at night-time, after my toner and before my Revitalizing Cream.

When using the product, you need not use so much because a little goes a long way. Oh well, it depends on your discretion. There are times that I feel my skin is quite dry so I apply a little more on my face and neck. And yes, you can Immediately feel softer and more supple skin right after use. (Yayyyy!) As for the fine lines and wrinkles, I can't say so much because, thank God, I have not seen one on my face. :D

I'm not yet done with the first bottle so I'll let you know if ever there are some changes. Til then! :)

The Body Shop Jolly Orange Body Butter and Delon Coconut Body Butter

I am very particular when it comes to skin care and I love collecting products and trying different ones to see what'll work me. Some time ago, an Aunt of mine gave my Mama a Body Shop Jolly Orange Body Buttter. Well, I am not fond of Body Butters as I prefer lotion for I think Body Butter is too thick and too creamy. When you live in a tropical country like the Philippines and you sweat a lot (just like I do), I think that you'll really try to avoid it.

So there my Aunt let my Mama used the Body Butter and well being the curious lady that I am, I tried it too.

The Body Shop Jolly Orange Body Butter
So here's what written: The Body Shop Jolly Orange Body Butter. Aromatic moisturiser with orange seed oil.

Packaging: Well, the color is a nice pop of bright orange and yellow and comes in a plastic container. Tightly closed so the product won't come out.

Scent: Honestly I din't smell orange in the product. For me, it smells more of like potpourri and flowers. I am not a fan of "flowery" scents because I feel like it'll induce sneezing. Hahaha! I think i'd love this more if I can smell the "citrus-y" orange since I'm more of a fan of citrus smelling products.

Product: Comes off real smooth and tends to linger on skin. Tinted with a yellow color. It's good because it's really moisturizing and you'll feel immediately the soft and velvety feeling that it leaves on your skin. What I don't like about it though is that I don't feel like it is absorbed. I think that it just stays on top of my skin and since I sweat heavily, I tend to feel sticky afterwards :(
___________________________________________________

The other Body Butter was given to me by my Grandma. Actually it was from a package in the US. My Grandma saved the "Coconut" one for me and let my Aunts pick what scent they want. Oh well, they're older. Hahaha!

Delon Body Butter Coconut (Mine is in a different design, unfortunately I cant find it in the images.)
What's written: Front: Intense Moisturizing. Indulge your senses while softening your skin.
Back: Quick-absorbing and non-greasy. Long-lasting moisture. Leaves skin silky soft and protected. Non tested on animals.

Packaging: The color is a brown with a Coconut picture on the front. It also has design on the sides.

Scent: True to its word, it really smells like Coconut! Coconut oil that is! I didn't like the smell at first because it smells like pomade/hair gel that old people use here in our country. Haha! How silly of me. But then I liked it as time went by because it reminded me of summer and the sun and the beach! Tropical heaven! It smells sweet and yummy enough to eat! (Of course, it's not edible though.)

Product: The product comes in a thick consistency and won't fall even if you tilt it upside-down. Yep, i tried it. It comes off smooth and is really easy to apply. It leaves your skin feeling smooth and yes, it is non-greasy! It is quickly absorbed, in less than a minute or so. It doesn't leave you feeling sticky even if you sweat alot. And the good thing is, the softness stays and also the yummy smell! I wear it everytime and my boyfriend thinks it smells like Icecream.

So there. I hope this review helps! Have a good day and God Bless!
